Life with Azuki, the crazy puppy

This is a blog about my toy poodle puppy, Azuki. I thought it is only appropriate for me to dedicate a blog about her since she has basically taken over our lives.

Matt thought it was really funny to bury Azuki in her toys:

Azuki was too tired to protest. With her brown snuggle puppy on top, it was like THE REVENGE OF THE SNUGGLE PUP, since it is the one stuffed toy that she normally humps with much enthusiasm. We are used to it but visitors usually gasp with a mixure of shock, embarassement, and amusement when they see her in action:

A close-up of our pup, passed out on our couch. She likes tp sprawl and OWN THAT COUCH, forcing Matt and I squeezed like sardines in one corner of our three-seater:

Play

Azuki used to love playing with other dogs when she was a wee little pup. In fact, she loved other canines much more than humans, even above me and Matt. Whenever she saw another dog, it was like we didn't exist, and all she wanted was to harass that poor dog and have them play with her.
As she got older, her preference clearly shifted. She definitely relish humans attention more, and above all, she likes to play with me and Matt. Her bond with us is stronger, and we sort of became the source of her entertainment. It' s like we substituted for her pup pals.

Once in awhile, however, she will play with very specific dogs. It's always very cute to see her play with other dogs because they obviously enjoy it together (versus when she chomps on my hand, she is the only one who is having fun). One of her dear friends is a white havanese puppy named Lucy. They like to chase each other around and wrestle on the ground. I took a few photos with my cell phone:

This morning we also met a very friendly pitbull. A PITBULL! They are the ones that have a very bad reputation for killing humans and dogs alike, since a lot of unscrupulous people train them and use them as fighting dogs. Although azuki was initially skeptical, she warmed up after awhile and started to play. Azuki showed her teeth and tried to jump in the pit bull's face to nip her--very typical Azuki playing style. Good thing the feroucious-looking dog was very un-ferocious, and rather cuddly and very agreeable, and did not try to retailiate by eating her for breakfast:

I should mention that Azuki refused to play with the dog and acted very meekly when they were both off-leash. That is, until her owner held her dog's leash (and Azuki was free). Only then, when the other party was restrained, did she get the courage to provoke the other dog in her face, making fast and quick getaways afterwards.

I did not say our pup was dumb.
